Good luck surviving on a stomach full of self I’m trying out starving over here Weighing up all the pros and cons of dying all over again A vague idea of a vivid place Where I can find solace in space With my thoughts around the waist of someone that’s worth so much more Than all the time and energy you pour into making sure none of this adds up It doesn’t bother me that much if I process it in symmetry A language that makes less sense to me But if it’s all perception anyway Then it can partially translate Into a loose concept of prideful scars And with a toothbrush and a deck of cards I’ll find ways to lose myself Inside a mind that’s mostly closed Above a lung that’s full of rust And one that fills with anything but air Yet still contributes to a cough Sometimes a cough can be enough To waken yourself up I may have bought the lie of stillness But now you’re dancing like a tired illness That’s forgotten how to kill That wants nothing more than to call the whole thing off So how about we settle for a draw Swimming through this paper sea It’s no wonder you’ve been catching up to me But I’ve been bleeding not much louder than those jagged words you scream Piercing holes in a picture of good health as you’re sliding off a broken shelf Finding out that you can’t survive on a stomach full of self.

about

I recorded a couple of songs earlier this year and didn't know what to do with them. Jon mentioned that Paper Rifles had also recorded a couple of songs earlier this year and didn't know what to do with them either. We decided not to be lonely this summer and gave each other a musical hug, and nine seconds later this split was born.

The WL side is a new original and a reworking of a GUMS! song. Really emo'd the shit out of it. Thanks a lot to GUMS! for being alright with me covering the song.

The PR side is made up of two new choice nugs from Edinburgh's most #HornyForHistory.

Released digitally and on limited edition cassette via Limited Fun/Anti-Manifesto.

Artwork by Nige at Designidge.

released July 21, 2023

Drums on the WL songs were played and recorded by Pete Wright at The Compound, Norwich. Everything else was recorded by my inept self at home. Jamie Ward mixed them and Jimmy from Paper Rifles mastered them.

about

Wrong Life Edinburgh, UK

I'm Fraser. I play music under the name Wrong Life. I tried fooling people into thinking it was a proper full band with a somewhat steady line-up but it didn't work, so here we are.

"... somewhere in between heartfelt, life-affirming contemporary pop-punk and smart indie-rock of the ‘90s and early ‘00s." - Keep Track of the Time

"Emo-ish punky bullshit." - me
